Onwards Breath

Oxygen Advantage® Advanced Instructor and Breathwork Coach located in The Lake District, near Penrith, Cumbria.

About

Hi, I’m Oli — husband, father to two primary-aged boys, and companion to an ageing collie/kelpie. I’m passionate about how understanding the breath can help people feel more at home in their bodies and better resourced in their lives, and how movement, nature, and simple breathing practices support wellbeing and sustainable performance. I’ve been fortunate to live and work in the Lake District for 14 years, where my love of the outdoors, nature, and adventures big and small continues to grow.As an Oxygen Advantage® Advanced Instructor, I bring together science-informed functional breathing and person-centred breathwork, drawing on training with Aria Breath and Alchemy of Breath. My work supports people seeking calm, clarity, resilience, and performance. My path into this field comes from lived experience. After a career in sales across the commercial and third sectors — and more than a decade as an ultra-distance and fell runner — I experienced burnout that deeply affected my physical and mental health. Recovery has been, and continues to be, non-linear, but one constant throughout has been breathwork.Becoming a parent also highlighted the importance of nervous-system regulation, sustainable energy, and simple, accessible practices that support everyday life.Exploring breathwork more deeply showed me how powerful functional breathing and consistent, nervous-system-centred techniques can be.I now work with people recovering from burnout, managing stress or anxiety, seeking deeper rest, or looking to improve performance — whether in sport, work, or daily life — as well as those wanting to reconnect with their bodies or build emotional and nervous-system resilience.Rather than targeting specific groups, I focus on fit. I begin with a one-to-one conversation to ensure my approach aligns with each person’s needs, goals, and readiness. My role is to guide, support, and empower people to move forward, one breath at a time.

• Busy professionals — full-body de-stressing, mental reset, and a boost to creativity and problem-solving.
• Students or learners — improved clarity, focus, and spaciousness for new ideas.
• Long-term conditions or chronic pain — gentle relief as the body softens, helping activate its natural healing processes.

The following reviews can be also be found on the Onwards Breath Facebook page.

"Worked over a 6 week period with Oli, with some further input. Have been aware of "breath work" for a while and could see that Oli had a great depth of knowledge. I was interested in stress management and wanting to perform better whilst spinning many plates. He takes you through the foundations and the biology of what is happening. Stress or performing under pressure is inevitable when you work for yourself. Oli takes you through a framework which helps. It is not some woo woo nonsense. I found some familiarity with elements, from meditation to Wim Hoff etc. It has made me aware of when my body is reacting in a detrimental way and given me awareness of how to reset. Oli follows up and makes sure you understand what is happening. I'd say the lessons don't sink in straight away. Rather like you don't know a book by reading the back cover. It builds in layers. I have a way to go of course and life happens, but if you're body is exposed to tension and you want a route to calm yourself down and reset, I'd recommend him." - Steve S

"My breath work session with Oli today was fascinating and I very quickly learnt that I while I want to learn how to maintain good nasal breathing both day and night, I did not understand the mechanics of nasal breathing at all!
Oli explained it all very clearly, with demonstrations that were very clear even online, and I am looking forward to putting my learning into practice so that my mind and body can gain from deeper, correct breathing." - Caroline R
